Bhavaviveka
BH?VAVIVEKA
Bh?vaviveka was a Madhyamaka school philosopher who lived from perhaps 500 to 570 c.e. His name may have been Bhavya or Bh?viveka, and he may have come from South India. Bh?vaviveka's attack on the interpretation of Madhyamaka by Buddhap?lita (c. 500 c.e.) led later Tibetans to refer to him as the founder of the Sv?tantrika-Madhyamaka. Bhavaviveka's works include the Prajñ?prad?pa (Lamp of Wisdom) on N?g?rjuna, and the Madhyamakah?dayak?rik? (Verses on the essence of Madhyamaka) with Tarkajv?l? (Blaze of Reasoning, an autocommentary), an early encyclopedia of Indian philosophy.
