ALOYSIUS RABATÁ, BL.
Carmelite prior; b. Monte San Giuliano, Sicily, c. 1430; d. Randazzo, Sicily, 1490. He entered the carmelite order at Trapani and became prior of the Randazzo monastery. Even as superior he continued to engage in manual labor and begging. He was noted especially for his love of neighbor and for the forgiveness of his enemies, as was exemplified in his refusal to reveal the identity of the assailant from whose wounds he died. The process of beatification was begun in 1533, the cult approved in 1841 by Gregory XVI, and an Office and Mass assigned in 1842. His relics were translated to the collegiate church of St. Mary, Randazzo, in 1912.
Feast: May 11.
