Wird (Arab.). A time of private prayer (cf. duʿāʾ) in Islam (in addition to ṣalāt), and also the formula of prayers recited on these occasions (also known as ḥizb). Awrād (pl.) are usually made up of passages from the Qur'ān, and among Sūfīs are recited at least seventy times morning and evening.
