Vāk laina. The way in which Sikhs get advice from the Gurū Granth Sāhib (Ādi Granth), by prayer, followed by opening the book ‘at random’. The book is held between the hands, the hands are moved slowly outward, and the reading begins at the first line of the first complete hymn on the left-hand page. A vāk commences the installation of the Gurū Granth Sāhib each day.
