Suiga Shintō
Suiga Shintō or Suika Shintō (Jap., ‘Shinto of grace and protection’). An eclectic school of Shinto which was influenced by neo-Confucianism. It was founded by Yamazaki Ansai (1619–82), a Buddhist priest turned Confucian scholar who attempted a grand synthesis of neo-Confucian metaphysical and ethical concepts with the traditions of the various Shinto schools of the early Tokugawa period.
