Siddhasena Divakara (‘The Sun’, c.4th/5th cent. CE). Jain logician. He appears to have been a brahman who was converted after losing a debate with a Jain monk, Vṛddhavādin, who then performed many miracles disclosing the truth of his new faith. The major works attributed to him are Nyāyāvatāra (The Descent of Logic) and Sammatitarka (The Examination of True Doctrine, tr. S. Sanghavi and B. J. Doshi). He also wrote verse compositions of a more devotional kind, e.g. Dvātriṃśika.
