Narasiṃha

Narasiṃha (Skt., ‘man-lion’). In Hindu mythology, the fourth in the standard list of Viṣṇu's avatāras. Although the figure of Narasiṃha is the most bloodthirsty of Viṣṇu's avatāras, he is often portrayed in yogic posture, and in some Pāñcarātra contexts he is associated with the tranquillity of meditation.
