Mahalā (from Skt., mahilā, ‘woman’, or Arab., mahal, ‘place’). Followed by the appropriate numeral, this word is used in the Adi Granth to designate the compositions of the Sikh Gurūs, e.g. Mahalā II or M. II = Gurū Aṅgad.
