Bandā Siṅgh Bahādur (1670–1716 CE). Sikh military leader. Bandā Siṅgh, originally Lachman Dās, became a bairāgī (Hindu renunciant) in early youth, adopting the name Mādho Dās. He settled as a hermit at Nander where he later became Gurū Gobind Siṅgh's ardent follower, renamed Bandā (slave). The gurū authorized him to punish the persecutors of the Sikhs. After eight years of fighting against the Mughals he was besieged at Gurdās-Naṅgal and cruelly executed in Delhi.
