Livadiya

Livadiya (lyĬvä´dyēə), town, S Crimea near Yalta, on the Black Sea. From 1954 part of Ukraine (then the Ukrainian SSR), it passed to Russian control in 2014 after the occupation and annexation of Crimea. Livadiya produces wine and is a noted health resort. Dating from medieval times, it became a summer residence of the Russian czars in 1861. The Livadiya palace, built in 1910–11, is now a sanatorium. It was the meeting place of the Yalta Conference in 1945.
