Kalanianole, Honah Kuhio
Honah Kuhio Kalanianole (hō´nä kŏŏhē´ō kälän´ēänō´lā), 1871–1922, delegate to U.S. Congress from the Territory of Hawaii. He was educated in Hawaii, the United States, and England and held minor posts in the Hawaiian monarchy before it was overthrown in 1893; he served as a delegate to the U.S. Congress from 1902 until his death. His great achievement was gaining the adoption of the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act, which preserved land for the native Hawaiians.
