Izu-shichito

Izu-shichito (ē´zōō-shēchē´tō), island group, extending c.300 mi (480 km) S of Tokyo Bay, Japan. O-shima is the largest of these volcanic islands, which are now tourist attractions. The islands, formerly used for penal settlements, are known for their production of camellia oil. They are also called the Seven Isles of Izu.
