Haora
Haora (hä´ôrä) or Howrah (hou´rä), city (1991 pop. 947,000), West Bengal state, E central India, on the Hugli River opposite Kolkata (Calcutta). It is located at the region's main railway terminus. Second only to Kolkata in the Hugliside industrial complex, Haora produces textiles, glass, hosiery, cigarettes, batteries, and products made from jute, cotton, and wood.
