Pʾo. Component in Chinese anthropology, one of two spiritual elements in the human (the other being hun). Pʾo is associated with the dark and passive side, i.e. yin; and at death, the pʾo returns to the earth. With the pʾo is associated the kuei, which represents the unsettled and vengeful element of pʾo in some circumstances of death: for details see SHEN.

Po
Po Italy's longest river, in n Italy. It rises in the Cottian Alps near the French border, and flows e to empty into the Adriatic Sea. The Po valley is an important industrial and agricultural region, and water from the river is used extensively in irrigation schemes. Length: 650km (405mi).
