Forward Cast
Forward Cast
1. Aim for a specific target. Picture the distance between your hand and the target. Push your wrist and thumb directly in a stroke towards the target. The thumb’s path is the direction that the line will follow.
2. To complete the forward cast, drive forward with the forearm rotating from the shoulder and the elbow joint. Again the wrist joint must be locked. This power stroke is made by smooth acceleration and by a sudden stop at the end of the casting stroke. The forward cast sweeps the rod forward throughout a long arc. Tight loops are created by having your elbow travel through a straight horizontal path.
