Molony, Guy (1884–1972)
Guy Molony ("Machine Gun" Molony; b. 1884; d. 13 February 1972), North American soldier of fortune. Molony ran away to South Africa during the Boer War. He fought alongside Lee Christmas in the Honduran invasion of January 1911 and subsequently returned to New Orleans and became police chief in 1921. Four years later, he abruptly resigned and went back to Honduras, where he served as bodyguard to the president. He acquired plantations, an automobile dealership, and a post in the national brewery. In the mid-1930s, he fought rebels trying to overthrow President Tiburcio Carías Andino. He operated a rice plantation in Honduras until the early 1960s, then retired to New Orleans, where he died.
