Chatterley, Lady a sexually promiscuous woman, especially one attracted to a man considered socially inferior, with allusion to the character in D. H. Lawrence's novel Lady Chatterley's Lover (originally published in Italy in 1928, but not available in England in unexpurgated form until 1960), which tells the story of Constance Chatterley's affair with the gamekeeper Mellors.
