Peep o' Day Boys was the name adopted by Ulster presbyterians in the 1780s and 1790s to confront the catholic Defenders. On 1 September 1795 they routed their adversaries in a pitched battle at the Diamond, near Armagh, killing many of them. They then joined in the foundation of the Orange order.
