Chesterfield, battle of, 1266. Despite Simon de Montfort's death at Evesham in 1265, the earl of Derby and other barons continued their resistance to Henry III. On 15 May 1266 they were defeated at Chesterfield and Derby was captured. Some of the survivors then took refuge in the fens of Ely, where they were suppressed by Henry's son Edward in 1267.
