Episcopal Church
Episcopal Church US Anglican Church. Church of England services were held in the first American colonies. With the American Revolution, the Church of England disestablished, and a national church organized in its place. Known as the Protestant Episcopal Church, its constitution and version of the Book of Common Prayer were established in 1789. In 1873, a breakaway group of clergy and laity founded the Reformed Episcopal Church.
