Full name, Bruce Peter Weitz; born May 27, 1943, in Norwalk, CT; son of Alvin Weitz (a liquor store owner) and Sybil Weitz Rubel (a homemaker); married second wife, Cecilia Hart (an actress), c. 1973 (some sources cite 1971; divorced, 1980).
