Born July 26, 1965, in New York, NY; son of Byrne (an actor and cofounder of Piven Theatre Workshop) and Joyce (an actress and cofounder of Piven Theatre Workshop; maiden name, Hiller) Piven; brother of Shira Piven (an actress and director). Education: Graduated from New York University; attended Drake University; trained for the stage at Piven Theatre Workshop, National Theatre Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Center, the National Theatre, London, and Harand Theatre Camp.
