Community Environment: Vincennes (population 20,000) is the oldest city in the state and was the capital of the Old Northwest. On the banks of the Wabash River, Vincennes is the distribution point for this area, which produces peaches, apples, cantaloupes, watermelons, sweet potatoes and wheat. Points of interest are the Cathedral Library, George Rogers Clark National Historic Park, Harrison Mansion, Indiana Territory State Memorial and the Old Cathedral.
