Vinacessi Benedetto
Vinacessi, Benedetto, Italian composer and organist; b. Brescia, c. 1670; d. Venice, c. 1719. After studies with Pietro Pelli, he was in the service of Prince Ferdinand Gonzaga of Catiglione delle Stiviere, near Mantua, and of Count Alemano Gabara of Brescia. In 1704 he was made a Cavaliere and 2ndorganist at San Marco in Venice. His successful dramatic works for Venice included L’innocenza giustificata (Dec. 1698), Gli amanti generosi (Carnival 1703), and Gli sponsali di giubilo (1705). Among his other works were two books of trio sonatas (1687, 1692), a Mass, four oratorios, two cantatas, and a book of motets (1714).
