State-supported, university, coed. Awards associate, bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and first professional degrees and post-master's certificates. Founded 1889. Setting: 875-acre urban campus with easy access to Albuquerque. Endowment: $222.4 million. Research spending 2003-04: $149.7 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $8522 per student. Total enrollment: 25,686. Faculty: 1,400 (874 full-time, 526 part-time). Collegiate Environment:
Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, marching band, student-run newspaper, radio station.
