Description:

Independent Roman Catholic, comprehensive, coed. Awards bachelor's and master's degrees and post-master's certificates. Founded 1883. Setting: 200-acre small town campus with easy access to Pittsburgh. Endowment: $8.7 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $5000 per student. Total enrollment: 1,706. Faculty: 154 (62 full-time, 92 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 15:1. 1,463 applied, 77% were admitted. 14% from top 10% of their high school class, 38% from top quarter, 73% from top half. Full-time: 940 students, 68% women, 32% men. Part-time: 407 students, 76% women, 24% men. Campus security: 24-hour emergency response devices and patrols, late night transport-escort service, controlled dormitory access, student personnel at entrances during evening hours, 15-hour overnight patrols by trained police officers. 571 college housing spaces available; 569 were occupied in 2003-04.
