Special Message
Since its founding in 1967, Seattle Central Community College has developed into a school with a national reputation for innovative educational programs. Located in Seattle, Washington, Seattle Central is one of the largest colleges in the state, with an enrollment of 10,000 students. The College is unique among the state's community colleges for its ethnic and cultural diversity. Each year, more students from Seattle Central go on to 4-year institutions than from any other community college in the state.
If the ultimate goal is a 4-year degree, the Associate of Arts (AA) degree via distance learning provides freshman- and sophomore-level classes recognized by most universities. For those not sure about college, distance learning may help them decide. Students can enroll via distance learning in an individual course that interests them or helps improve their knowledge and skills and earn credit toward an AA degree, or they can earn a certificate in a specific technical area. There are several reasons why distance learning may work for students, including those with a work or home schedule conflict, disability or homebound situation, lifestyle preferences, traffic gridlock, or a residence too far from a college. It can also be a good match with the student's learning style or simply be more convenient.
Seattle Central's distance learning program offers courses in a variety of formats, including correspondence courses, telecourses, videocassette courses, and online courses.
For more information, students should contact the Distance Learning Program at 800-510-1724 (toll-free) or by e-mail (dislrn@sccd.ctc.edu) or visit the homepage (http://seattlecentral.edu/distance).
