Description:

State and locally supported, comprehensive, coed. Part of City University of New York System. Awards bachelor's and master's degrees and post-master's certificates. Founded 1937. Setting: 77-acre urban campus. Endowment: $10.6 million. Research spending 2003-04: $7.1 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $5138 per student. Total enrollment: 17,395. Faculty: 1,180 (546 full-time, 634 part-time). Most popular organizations: Alliance of Latin American Students, Black Student Union, Caribbean Student Association, Hillel-Jewish Student Organization, India Cultural Exchange. Major annual events: Fall Campus Fest (Carnival theme), Spring Campus Fest (multi-cultural theme), Career Week. Student services: legal services, health clinic, personal-psychological counseling, women's center. Campus security: 24-hour emergency response devices and patrols. College housing not available. Benjamin S. Rosenthal Library plus 1 other with 985,550 books, 900,573 microform titles, 2,756 serials, 30,505 audiovisual materials, an OPAC, and a Web page.
