Northampton County Area Community College was founded in 1967. It is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It first offered distance learning courses in 1974. In fall 2003, there were 2,064 students enrolled in distance learning courses. Institutionally administered financial aid is available to distance learners.

Special Message

Northampton Community College (NCC) has 8 degrees that can be completely achieved through distance learning, over 100 Internet courses available to students, and articulation agreements with 8 other colleges and universities for seamless transfer to more than 20 bachelor's degree programs. In addition to Internet courses, there are multimedia courses (Tele-Webs) that have a video component. Courses are developed using asynchronous communication, which allows student to access their courses and instructors at flexible times during the week. Most courses are offered in a 16-week format.

Currently, degrees are available in accounting, business administration, business management, early childhood education, general studies, individual transfer studies, liberal arts, and social work. In addition, a certificate program is available in early childhood education, and specialized diplomas are available in library technical assistant and early childhood family child care. NCC and St. Luke's Health Network have collaborated to create a Perioperative Academy, offering training for registered nurses wishing to gain certification for working in operating rooms.

Starting in spring 2004, NCC is the first in the nation to offer online courses in RV maintenance.

Accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, NCC has been providing distance learning since 1970, but added the high-tech Internet and Tele-Web courses in 1998. The distance learning program serves over 4,000 students per year.
