John L. Avila Memorial Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified individuals pursuing continuing education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Luso-American Fraternal Federation - Luso-American Insurance Society's 20-30s associates member in good standing; 18-39 years old; enrolled in an accredited educational program and a policy holder. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicant s must request for the application form available on the Foundation's office. Submit the completed application form together with an official transcript and three letters of recommendation to the Foundation's office. Deadline: March 1.

Luso-American Education Foundation C-1 General Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified students to further their education. Focus: Business. Qualif.: Applicant must be a California resident; enrolled in trade business school, junior or four-year college/university; have minimum of 3.5 GPA; a Portuguese descent; or currently taking Portuguese language classes with 3.0 GPA. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form; an official transcript; SAT or ACT scores; and two letters of recommendation. Deadline: March 1.

Luso-American Education Foundation G-1 Grants (Professional Development/Grant)

Purpose: To promote the Portuguese language and culture. Focus: Portuguese studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be a California resident. Criteria: Recipient will be selected based on the Grant Committee's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $500. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a statement of background and need; description of the research project (if applicable); official transcripts; and three letters of recommendation. Deadline: March 1.

Luso-American Education Foundation G-2 Grants (Professional Development/Grant)

Purpose: To promote the Portuguese language and culture. Focus: Portuguese studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be California residents; must be of Portuguese descent or working in an educational setting with Portuguese adults or children; enrolled in a college or university not offering Portuguese language or literature; have a desire to study the language/culture of Portuguese. Criteria: Recipient will be selected based on the Grant Committee's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $750. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit statement of background and need; an essay (written in English and Portuguese) on Portuguese history or literature or both; official transcript; list of past teaching experiences and three letters of recommendation. Deadline: March 1.

Luso-American Education Foundation G-3 Grants (Postgraduate/Grant)

Purpose: To provide support to improve the professional career of Portuguese teachers. Focus: Portuguese studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be California residents; be teachers of Portuguese in grades K-12; have B.A. or higher degree in Portuguese studies. Criteria: Recipient will be selected based on the Grant Committee's review of the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicant s must submit a statement of background and need (written in English and Portuguese); an essay (minimum of 2 pages) about Portuguese history; transcript; list of past teaching experiences and three letters of recommendation. Deadline: March 1.

Luso-American Fraternal Federation B-2 Scholarships (Postgraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified individuals pursuing continuing education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Luso-American Fraternal Federation Luso-American Insurance Society's 20-30s associates member in good standing; 18-39 years old; in need of financial aid to continue or re-enter a postgraduate program. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Luso-American Fraternal Federation B-3 Scholarships (All/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified individuals pursuing continuing education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Luso-American Fraternal Federation Luso-American Insurance Society's 20-30s associates member in good standing; 18-39 years old; in need of financial assistance to attend a vocational school program or a specialty job training program. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Qualif.: Applicant must be a Luso-American Fraternal Federation Luso-American Insurance Society's 20-30s associates member in good standing; 18-39 years old; in need of financial assistance to make a career change. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Antonio Mattos Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified students to further their education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be a high school graduating senior or enrolled in a four-year college or university; must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher; a Sacramento or East Bay area (CA) resident; member of the Luso-American Fraternal Federation - Luso-American Life Insurance Society and policy holder in good standing for a minimum of 2 years; excel in a sport during the 4 high school years; and active in the Fraternal Community. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to qualified students who wish to further their education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be a high school graduating senior or enrolled in a four-year college or university; must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher; must have held local or state youth office; a Stanislaus County (CA) resident; member of the Luso-American Fraternal Federation - Luso-American Life Insurance Society and policy holder in good standing for a minimum of 2 years; must participated in Fraternal Youth activities for 2 or more years or performed at State Conventions. Criteria: Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the jury's review of the application materials.
