Description:

State-supported, comprehensive, coed. Awards associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. Founded 1890. Setting: 139-acre small town campus with easy access to Little Rock. Research spending 2003-04: $367,540. Educational spending 2003-04: $4539 per student. Total enrollment: 3,461. Faculty: 218 (157 full-time, 61 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 17:1. 1,996 applied, 61% were admitted. 16% from top 10% of their high school class, 39% from top quarter, 77% from top half. Full-time: 2,698 students, 56% women, 44% men. Part-time: 338 students, 64% women, 36% men. Students come from 24 states and territories, 27 other countries, 12% from out-of-state, 1% Native American, 1% Hispanic, 17% black, 0.5% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 2% international, 20% 25 or older, 9% transferred in. Arkadelphia is 55 miles southwest of Little Rock, and 35 miles south of Hot Springs, America's oldest national park. Arkadelphia is a modern, progressive city, and a well-known educational center. The Missouri Pacific Railroad, U.S. Interstate 30, U.S. Highway 67, and state highways make this city easily accessible from all parts of the state.
