The Shincho Graduate Fellowships for Study in Japan (Graduate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance to cover all expenses of the fellow, including air travel, tuition, research expenses, living expenses, insurance and other kind of expenses. Focus: Japanese studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a degree candidate in a graduate program at Columbia University in field of Japanese cultural studies and must have been accepted as a research student in a graduate level program at a Japanese public or private university. Criteria: Applicants will be evaluated under the direction of the Donald Keene Center Selection Committee and the Center Director.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicant must notify the Foundation in writing of his/her address in Japan and report on his/her program of study or research, which must have been approved in advance by the Selection Committee of the Donald Keene Center. Any change in address or program of study must be reported to the Foundation and the Center; must submit a summary report of his/her study in both Japanese and English to the Selection Committee of Donald Keene Center one month before the completion of the fellowship. A Japanese version of that summary must be submitted to the Foundation by the same deadline. Deadline: February 1.
