State and locally supported, university, coed. Part of City University of New York System. Awards bachelor's, master's, and first professional degrees and post-master's certificates. Founded 1847. Setting: 35-acre urban campus. Total enrollment: 12,108. Faculty: 1,109 (543 full-time, 566 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 11:1. 6,781 applied, 49% were admitted. 22% from top 10% of their high school class. Full-time: 6,359 students, 48% women, 52% men. Part-time: 2,758 students, 53% women, 47% men. Students come from 130 other countries, 4% from out-of-state, 0.1% Native American, 33% Hispanic, 26% black, 17% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 12% international, 40% 25 or older, 13% transferred in. A campuswide network can be accessed from off-campus. Staffed computer lab on campus.
