Distance Learning Program

The distance learning unit is part of the College of Extended and International Education, whose mission is to extend the resources of the University to better serve the educational needs of its communities. The University has more than 4,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs in all fifty states and more than sixty countries.

Delivery Media

All distance learning courses have a Web site, and participants can interact with faculty and staff members via e-mail, telephone, and correspondence. Courses are conducted via live Internet, where students participate in a live, interactive educational environment, including video transmission of the lecture; via asynchronous Internet, where participants log in at their convenience to complete class assignments and engage in discussion groups with their peers; via television, where CSUDH broadcasts 24 hours a day on cable systems throughout southern California; and via correspondence.

Programs of Study

CSU Dominguez Hills currently offers nine degree and nine certificate programs via distance learning. There are no on-campus requirements for any CSUDH distance learning program. Programs include the following:

Master of Arts in Behavioral Science: Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peacebuilding

Master of Arts in the Humanities

Master of Business Administration

Master of Public Administration

Master of Science in Engineering Management (M.S.E.M.)

Taught via asynchronous Internet, the M.S.E.M. is an interdisciplinary degree program designed to integrate the development of management and engineering skills focusing on problem solving in the synthesis of technical, financial, and organizational requirements for engineering projects in a rapidly changing environment. California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), is a national leader in distance learning, named by Forbes magazine as one of the top cyber universities. The campus is located in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles. Founded in 1960, the University is one of twenty-three California State University (CSU) campuses and has the largest distance learning program in the CSU system. Taught via asynchronous Internet, the certificate completion programs in quality assurance allow professionals to gain certification in specialized areas of quality and prepare for American Society for Quality exams. Assistive Technology Certificate

Taught via asynchronous Internet, the program prepares individuals to comply with state and federal laws that require that school personnel be prepared to offer a full range of assistive technology services to disabled people. Special Programs

The Center for Training and Development at CSUDH works closely with the business community to develop custom-designed training programs to help meet the demands of the fast-paced workplace of the new millennium. Programs are delivered via distance learning, on-site, and on the CSUDH campus.
