Description: State-supported, 2-year, coed. Part of University System of Georgia. Awards certificates, transfer associate, and terminal associate degrees. Founded 1933. Setting: 390-acre small town campus. Total enrollment: 3,407. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 25:1. Full-time: 1,969 students, 50% women, 50% men. Part-time: 1,438 students, 67% women, 33% men. Students come from 10 states and territories, 0.2% Native American, 3% Hispanic, 18% black, 0.4% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 1% international, 29% 25 or older, 28% live on campus. Core. Calendar: semesters. Academic remediation for entering students, ESL program, services for LD students, advanced placement, honors program, summer session for credit, part-time degree program, adult/continuing education programs, internships. Community Environment: A rural area between Macon and Valdosta having a temperate climate. All modes of transportation serve the area. Scheduled airlines are nearby at Moultrie and Albany. Tifton is an agricultural area; plants are grown here and then sent north for transplanting. Other products are tobacco, cotton, peanuts, melons, commercial grasses and livestock. Part and full-time employment is good. Recreational activities include hunting, tennis, golf, swimming and other water sports.
