Woderofe, James
Woderofe, James (fl. 1415–51). English mason. He and his brother, John, worked at Norwich Cathedral in the 1410s and 1420s, where they vaulted some of the bays of the cloister and carried out other tasks. He seems to have designed the Erpingham Gate (1416–25), the remodelled west front of the Cathedral, Norwich (c.1426–50), and the west tower of Wymondham Abbey, Norfolk (from 1445). His expertise must have carried some weight, because he was called to Eton College, Bucks., in 1449, but on what pretext is unclear.
