Thienen, Jacob van (fl. early C15). Flemish architect. He probably designed the left wing of the Gothic Town Hall in Brussels, Belgium (begun 1402), one of the masterpieces of secular medieval architecture in Northern Europe, although the belfry was designed by Jan van Ruysbroeck, built 1448–63. He may have built the south aisle of the Church of Ste-Gudule, Brussels (c.1400).
