Sanctis, Francesco de' (c.1693–1731). Italian architect, best-known for one of the most important commissions in C18 Rome, the design of the Spanish Steps (1723–6), linking the Piazza di Spagna to Santissima Trinità dei Monti, a master-work of fluid Baroque urban planning. He also designed the façade of the Church of the Trinità dei Pellegrini, Rome (1722).
