Ozenfant, Amédée

Ozenfant, Amédée (1886–1966). French co-founder, with Le Corbusier, of Purism and L'Esprit Nouveau (1920–5), the first periodical dedicated to the C20 Modernist aesthetic in ‘all its manifestations’. He contributed to articles with Le Corbusier (on whom he was a formative influence), published in Vers une Architecture (1923). Probably his most influential work was Foundations of Modern Art, first published in English in 1931.
