Mengoni, Giuseppe

Mengoni, Giuseppe (1829–77). Italian architect. His best work is the cruciform Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Milan (1861–77), one of the largest and most impressive iron-and-glass covered arcades of C19, in the Italian Renaissance style, with an important elevation facing the Piazza del Duomo. He also designed the handsome Palazzo della Cassa di Risparmio (1868–76) and the impressive Classical arcades of the Campo Santo (1860s), both in Bologna.
