Lennox, Edward James

Lennox, Edward James (1854–1933). Canadian architect. In 1911 he was still designing in a vaguely late-Victorian manner, as with his Scottish Baronial Casa Loma, Toronto, but drew on themes from the USA for his earlier Toronto City Hall and Court House (1887–99), much influenced by Richardson's round-arched Allegheny County Court House and Gaol, Pittsburgh (1884–8). His work therefore mixed British and American influences, but he was also capable of impressive Beaux-Arts Classicism, as with the Toronto Power Generating Station, Niagara Falls, Ontario (1903–13).
