Layer, William (fl. 1419–d. 1444). English mason. He was involved in repairs to the Lady Chapel at Ely Cathedral (1439–40), and he may have designed the fine nave of St Mary's Church, Bury St Edmunds (1424–44), and the tower of Rougham Church, both in Suffolk.
