Gwynne, Alban Patrick (1913–2003). English Modernist architect, who worked in the office of Wells Coates with Lasdun. With Coates he designed The Homewood, Esher, Surrey (completed 1938), for his parents, a very advanced house on Corbusian pilotis which was comprehensively published in Architectural Review in 1939. After the 1939–45 war he designed several private houses for wealthy clients (e.g. the Jack Hawkins House, Bournemouth). Other works included the remodelling of and extensions to the Theatre Royal, York (1967).
