Goldie, Edward (1856–1921). English Roman Catholic architect. Born in Sheffield, Yorks., he was articled to his father, George, and designed several important buildings for the Church, including (with Charles Edwin Child (1843–1911) )St James's, Spanish Place, London (1885–90), a very serious and learned work of the Gothic Revival, much influenced by Continental precedents, and especially by Pearson. Other works include Ashorne Hill House, Newbold Pacey, Warwicks. (1895–7), St Alban's, Larkhill, Blackburn, Lancs. (1900–1), and St Mary's Priory, Storrington, Sussex (1904). He was in partnership with his son, Joseph (1882–1953), until his death.
