Garbett, Edward Lacy
Garbett, Edward Lacy (d. 1900). English architectural theorist. The author of Rudimentary Architecture for the Use of Beginners and Students, the Principles of Design in Architecture as Deducible from Nature and Exemplified in the Works of the Greek and Gothic Architects (1850), he argued that style was linked to construction, and saw that modern methods of building would lead to a new non-Historicist style.
