Decker, Paul
Decker, Paul (1677–1713). Born in Nuremberg, he worked under Schlüter during the building of the Schloss in Berlin and in 1707 become Court Architect at Bayreuth. He is remembered as an architectural theorist and for his imaginative and grand Baroque designs, published in his Fürstlicher Baumeister (Princely Architect—1711–16), which had a considerable influence on the building of German aristocratic residences in C18, and on certain architects, notably Fischer von Erlach. A second edition was published in 1885. His book of ornament, Architectura Theoretica-Practica, came out in 1720.
