Clarke, Gilmore David
Clarke, Gilmore David (1892–1982). American landscape-architect. He designed the first Parkway from Bronx Park to Kensico Dam, NY (1913–25), and subsequently was responsible for the Merritt Parkway, CT (1934–40), the Palisades Inter-State Highway, NJ (1945–50), and the Westchester Park north of NYC (1923–33). He laid out the World's Fairs, NYC (1939 and 1964), and designed the gardens of the UN HQ, NYC (1948–52).
