HELLP syndrome
HELLP syndrome (help) n. a form of severe pre-eclampsia affecting many body systems and characterized by haemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and a low platelet count (hence the name). It constitutes an emergency requiring delivery as soon as the patient is stabilized.
