glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerin) (glis-er-il try-ny-trayt) n. a drug that dilates blood vessels and is used mainly to prevent and treat angina (see vasodilator). It is administered as tablets, a mouth spray, ointment, skin patches, or an injection. Trade names: Glytrin Spray, Nitrolingual Pumpspray, Sustac, Transiderm-Nitro, etc.
