SIDELIGHTS:

Sari Robins, a former tax attorney and legislative lobbyist, is the author of One Wicked Night, More Than a Scandal, and other works in the ‘Andersen Hall’ series of romance novels. ‘I've always loved to write, whether it was a legal brief, legal articles or stories,’ the author noted on her Web site. ‘It's just something I enjoyed doing, but was usually too busy with school or my legal career to have enough time to do an extensive extracurricular project. I love this new facet of my life and look forward to a long and productive writing career."

Robins's debut novel, Her Scandalous Intentions, garnered top honors in the Royal Ascot Contest. Set during England's Regency era, the work concerns Charlotte Hastings, a young woman who is mistaken for a Napoleonic spy by James Morgan, a duke who serves as a government agent. When Hastings and Morgan are caught in a compromising situation, they claim to be engaged, then decide to work together to uncover the real traitor. ‘The story line is brimming with action,’ observed Harriet Klausner on the Best Reviews Web site, and Joan Hammond, writing on the Romantic Times Online, commented that the author ‘managed to craft a nice adventurous tale.’ According to a Publishers Weekly reviewer, Her Scandalous Intentions ‘will appeal to readers who enjoy steely heroes and strong-willed heroines who give as good as they get."

All Men Are Rogues, Robins's second romance, centers on Evelyn Amherst, the daughter of murdered diplomat Sir Phillip Amherst. Evelyn, who has been traveling the world with her father, returns to England to fulfill a deathbed pledge that she will complete his final mission. She doesn't realize, however, that she has been marked for death by members of the British intelligence service, who considered her father a traitor to the crown. Lord Justin Barclay, a government agent, is assigned to follow Evelyn to determine her true loyalties. All Men Are Rogues ‘contains a fully delightful love subplot built on deceit and innocence,’ Klausner stated, and Best Reviews Web site contributor Suan Wilson called the work ‘a riveting mystery inhabited by beguiling characters."

In 2004 Robins published One Wicked Night, the first work in her ‘Andersen Hall’ series that centers on a London orphanage. When Lillian Kane learns that her scheming stepfather, Cornelius, wants to gain control of her inheritance, she refuses to wed one of his chosen suitors and instead risks her reputation by masquerading as the mistress to Dillon, Marquis of Beaumont. After Dillon is falsely accused of murder and sent to Newgate Prison, Lillian turns to private investigator Nicholas Redford to help prove Dillon's innocence. ‘One Wicked Night is an engaging Regency romantic suspense that grips readers once they understand the motives of key players,’ noted Klausner.

In More Than a Scandal, Marcus Dunn, a British army officer whose father is the headmaster of Andersen Hall, returns to London to apprehend a spy who sits on the orphanage's board of trustees. He is reunited with Catherine Miller, a young woman who entered the orphanage with her brother, Jared, ten years earlier to escape their murderous cousins. Though Catherine has always loved Marcus, she is suspicious of his intentions. After Jared is imprisoned, Catherine stumbles upon a secret journal belonging to the ‘Thief of Robinson Square,’ a Robin Hood of sorts, and she adopts the thief's identity to assist her brother, complicating Marcus's assignment. According to Romantic Times Online critic Kathe Robin, the author ‘continues to grow with her engaging tales, charming characters and lighthearted, poignant plots."

An aristocratic woman must seduce a notorious rogue in What to Wear to a Seduction. When a blackmailer threatens Lady Edwina Ross, she concocts a plan to pose as the fiancée of Prescott Devane, a tortured soul with a scandalous past. The third work in Robins's ‘Andersen Hall’ series, What to Wear to a Seduction is ‘a deeply emotional, sensual romance that delves into the darkest recesses of the human soul,’ observed Robin. When Seducing a Spy focuses on Lady Tessa Golding, a government informant whose childhood acquaintance, Heath Bartlett, must investigate her role in a robbery. When Bartlett learns that Tessa has been accused of murder, he determines to learn who framed her. ‘Robins' skill in penning sexy, adventurous fare shines through,’ remarked Booklist contributor Nina C. Davis.
